Times Ain't That Rough

Watch Sigur Rós “Festival” from Inni

This is important. Sigur Rós are one of the most physically moving bands I have ever seen. They have a live DVD and album coming out this fall called Inni. NPR is giving us the first taste of this footage, which was shot in 2008 at London’s Alexandra Palace.

This clip of “Festival” is really amazing. Kind of blurry and vague but still unbelievably powerful. Consequence of Sound gives a break down of Vincent Morisset’s process:

long story short is that Morisset filmed the band digitally, then re-filmed that footage on 16mm, then re-filmed it all again on a projection screen with hands and different translucent objects used to distort and transform the image. “With these multiple generations of transfer we lost details in the image. The mood became dreamy, the gestures and compositions almost abstract,” Morisset explained.

Watch it. Also, the tracklist for Inni is down there too.
